Wistron officially cut the ribbon on its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 21, 2026, marking a $700 million bet on domestic AI hardware production. The 324,000-square-foot greenfield facility, designated D1, is already running two manufacturing cells and will scale to produce tens of thousands of boards per month of the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang joined Wistron Chairman Simon Lin, Taiwan government officials, and local Fort Worth leaders at the opening. Huang framed the plant as part of a broader American reindustrialization. "Building chip plants, packaging plants, computer system plants like this, and AI factories all over the United States, has allowed the United States to really reindustrialize for the first time in a long time," he said.
The plant currently employs over 500 people and plans to reach 1,000 by the end of the year, spanning roles from plumbing and construction to advanced manufacturing and electrical engineering. Huang underscored the range of jobs created, calling manufacturing "an essential pillar for every economy and every country."
At the ceremony, Huang signed the first NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip produced on site. He described the full system built around it as "the most powerful AI supercomputer in the world," with 1.5 million parts, weighing two tons, and costing $4 million per unit. "We are producing them like phones, right here in Wistron, cranking them out in volume because the world needs all of these machines to drive the intelligence infrastructure," Huang added.
Wistron used NVIDIA Omniverse digital twins to design and simulate the factory before any physical equipment was installed. Engineers validated assembly line layouts, optimized production processes, and trained workers on standard operating procedures virtually, compressing the time from construction to full-scale manufacturing.
The Fort Worth plant is part of NVIDIA's pledge to invest up to $500 billion in U.S. manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure over the coming years. The opening arrives as policymakers in Washington and Brussels alike push for more resilient, geographically diversified supply chains for advanced semiconductors and AI systems.
For Wistron, the facility represents a strategic shift from its historical manufacturing base in Asia to direct, at-scale production for the North American market. For Fort Worth, it brings high-tech manufacturing jobs and a direct role in building the physical backbone of the AI era. As Huang put it, "In the future, these AI factories will be a fundamental infrastructure of society, just as agriculture is today."
