Starfield Mod Finally Eliminates Loading Screens for Planet Takeoffs

A new mod for Starfield removes the loading screen for planet takeoffs, allowing for seamless transitions from the surface to orbit. The mod is currently in beta for PC.

A new mod for Starfield called "Seamless Takeoff" removes the loading screen for planetary takeoffs, allowing PC players to fly from a planet's surface to orbit without interruption. The mod is in beta and requires the game's PC version, as the modder has ruled out creating a similar mod for landings.

Nearly three years after its release, a dedicated modder has addressed one of the most persistent complaints about Starfield: the loading screens. A new mod, aptly titled "Seamless Takeoff," by modder 0xBobby, now allows PC players to fly from a planet's surface directly into orbit without a single loading screen.

Starfield has always been a game of contrasts. It takes the standard Bethesda RPG systems and scatters them across thousands of procedurally generated planets. While this creates conditions for immersive exploration, the magic was often broken by the sheer number of loading screens—a particularly frustrating point when trying to take off from a planet. The new mod eliminates the camera cut, allowing the ship to rise through the clouds and transition seamlessly into orbit.

"This mod aims to remove the loading screen when taking off from a planet, and spawns your ship above the landing site for a seamless experience," 0xBobby wrote on the mod's description page. "The mod is currently in beta, so expect bugs. The seamlessness of the transition will depend on the atmosphere and weather of the planet."

A Win for Immersion

This brings Starfield more in line with space exploration games like No Man's Sky, which allow for seamless travel between planets and space. The modder noted that while seamless takeoffs are now possible, seamless landings are a different beast entirely. "It probably won't ever happen, at least not from me," 0xBobby said regarding landing mods. "If I want seamless landings, I want the full thing, Star Citizen-style. I may attempt that, but the chances are pretty much 0."

Official Support Continues

Modders are not the only ones continuing to work on Starfield. Bethesda has confirmed it is still committed to the game and plans to release new story content sometime during 2027. The studio will also continue to add paid "Creation Club" mods for both PC and console players. For PC players, however, this new free mod is a significant step toward the immersive space game many envisioned at launch.
