OpenAI and AWS tested GPT-5.6 Terra running in Kiro on Terminal-Bench 2.1 and found that successful tasks came in at roughly 82% lower cost. The mechanism the companies credit for the savings is Kiro's spec-driven approach: because the model receives requirements, design documents, and task context before it starts generating, it reaches working solutions in fewer iterations and wastes fewer tokens on missteps.

Pricing context

The cost claim also lands on top of pricing that has been moving quickly.
